What Does It Mean to Meditate and “Just Be?”

Cut to the Chase

Just Be was founded in 2006 by CEO Eden Kozlowski as a means to harmonize with her soul. Eden has been a passionate practitioner of meditation, mindfulness, energy, spirituality and intuition for 12 years and is also Supervising Editor and Meditation Forum Moderator for the internationally recognized website, AllThingsHealing.com. She shares motivational, energetic and intuitive counsel as a speaker, Ordained Minister and Reiki Master. For meditation… she teaches two levels: corporate mindfulness classes that focus on mind/body awareness and group sessions that not only advance physical and mental states but also spiritual.

The Specifics

There are misconceptions that meditation/mindfulness is a passive practice, when it actually takes much attention. To “Just Be” doesn’t just mean sitting and trying to clear your mind – essentially, it is the process of learning how to co-exist with it and then to expand and enhance the way it actually functions and sees the world. And, meditation is also for everyone regardless of religion or background… it is the icing on your cake.

The Teacher’s Role

What is Eden’s role in this process? First, she is a teacher and, primarily, a guide. The unfolding of inner depth and joy requires a committed, trusting relationship with someone you can safety open your heart to. She is here to provide that sanctuary of non-judgment and caring. Medical Research

Research has shown that meditation can help with sleep issues, improve mood, decrease stress, increase concentration, strengthen your immune system, etc. Science has also proven that it literally remaps energy patterns in the brain influencing the shifting from the alpha waves of aroused, conscious thought to the theta waves that dominate the brain during periods of deep relaxation. Finally, there are also specific studies that show it helps with heart issues, PMS, high cholesterol, addictions – a host of physical, mental and physiological issues. All meditation requires is caring about yourself and a commitment of time and energy.

One last note, the majority of Just Be’s sessions are done in a group setting which is an additional, powerful component. Students express how much more they receive working with other people versus alone. Science has also proven the amazing effects of collective intention, prayer (see the work of Dr. Larry Dossey). We are lucky enough to prove it works every week.
